Do people actually use songs to break up with people to let the song do the talking?

Ya know i think my boyfriend just did this to me!!!! HILARIOUS!
He played a couple of songs that were about breakups and told me to
listen to them closely, and then he went away!
It has got to be the tackiest way to ever get dumped off. I usually am
the type that likes to sniff out signs of decay in a relationship, and
go in for the kill but THIS guy just came in and burned me... with a
song! I didnt even see it coming or else i woulda on-upped him and
left
